Updated : Please download the HP USB Drive Key here. Below link is dead.

Here is the simplest way to make your Pen/Thumb Drive bootable. You have to make sure the motherboard’s BIOS supports USB boot.

1. Download this USB Boot utility from here (about 45MB)

2. Make a bootable floppy > My Computer > A: > Format (right click) > Create an MS-Dos Startup Disk

3. Install the above utility then run it. Follow the recommeded instructions until you see “Choose role you wish the key to serve”

4. Select Floppy Disk and next

5. Insert the bootable/startup disk (floppy) you have just created and check “Image from drive A:

6. Wait for a minute and then you will be prompted “Configuration Successful” and remove your USB Pen drive.

7. Insert the bootable USB Pen drive to the USB port and boot to the motherboard BIOS

8. Go to Boot > Removable Drives > 1st Drives > USB Disk Pro

9. Go to Boot > Boot Device Priority > 1st Boot Device > USB Disk Pro

10. Save and Restart the system. You will be able to boot your system to MS-Dos with they USB Pen Drive now.

Only one problem. What do you do when your FLASH/Firmware update is larger than the 1.44 MB of space copied over from the Floppy disk to your 256MB key. YOU RUN OUT OF SPACE. It looks like I will have to go out anyway and purchase a USB Floppy Drive.

how about put the usb drivers on to the floopy so you can read the rest of the usb pen??

or else use a Bootable CD.. there are enough apps out there to make a bootable CD as well..

It format the USB pendrive to emulate 1.44 Floppy disregards the actual size of the USB perdrive.

Furthermore, in dos mode don’t recognize the HD (IDE).
so no use just boot up the pc in dos mode and can do nothing.
