Firstly, you need to use the Net User feature in command prompt to reset the login password

1. Login to your account. (with Administrator’s right)

2. Go to command prompt (Run > CMD) and type Net User.

2. You should see a list of your accounts such as Administrator and others.

3. Now, Type Net User Administrator 12345.   **Note : 12345 is just the sample password. You may choose you own

4. Done. And reboot your system. Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del twice and you will see the login screen (similar to secured login screen). Enter the Administrator and Password you’ve just reset. You should be able to login now.

There is an account restriction for Windows XP Home. You can only login as Administrator in Safe Mode. Kindly refer to following microsft page for explanation. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290109
